Our Memorial Day plans didn't quite turn out as expected but expectations can be too high sometimes. I ended up not sleeping well the night before - I was awake with a lot of contractions and nausea most of the night so all day long I just didn't feel well. I was over tired and very much done being pregnant and desperately wishing to deliver today but alas it didn't happen. This little boy is still tucked away inside snug as a bug in a rug. The kiddos were also extra emotional so we decided 2 hours after we were planning on leaving for Marc's parents that it would be better to stay home.
Turned out to be a very wise decision.
We visited the new playground in town where the kids were able to play and climb and slide and run to their hearts content. Then we came home and prepared a cook-out and ate on our almost finished deck. We have been working (mostly Marc) and waiting for the deck to be finished about 10 months now. We are so super close we can almost 'taste' it! Everyone enjoyed eating our dinner in our outside dining room.
After cleaning up we moved down from the deck to our amazing patio, pulled out our fire pit and roasted marshmallows which were of course used to make s'mores. Everyone was a super sticky mess but there was giggling and many laps run around our home to burn off any remaining energy. So although our plans changed and we missed spending time with family it still turned out to be a pretty good day enjoying the fruits of our labor.
