Bunny Day

This year because of scheduling conflicts we celebrated our Bunny day at our home instead of with cousins.  We missed everyone but also enjoyed doing our own celebrations and starting new traditions up here.

One thing we did for the first time was coloring our own hard boiled eggs.  I had seen and wanted to try dyeing them with natural dyes so of course we took the opportunity to do it.  I am so excited how they turned out.  We did purple cabbage, onion skins, tea bags and cayenne pepper. We thought maybe he eggs would take on a little bit of the flavor but they didn't.  The cabbage eggs though did turn white part of the egg blue - that was a fun surprise.  I can't wait to try it again with some other natural dyes and see what colors we get. We ended up eating the hard boiled eggs for breakfast for a few days in a row.  The kids loved it.

As per tradition the Easter Bunny exchanged their baskets for a new one because it was Isaac's first Easter. This year he brought bags monogramed with each child's first name initial. I love them, they are the perfect size, they store flat and eventually they can be used for library book bags for each child.  Win - win.   He sent the kids on a different scavenger hunt each for them to find their bags and of course the kids had fun with that.

We also did our own egg hunt in our own backyard...the first one ever in our yard.  I think next year we can hide them a bit harder for the older kids. While looking through these photos I had one of those moment when your realize just how much older your kids are getting.  Benjamin is looking a lot more like his older cousins, Rachel is getting so tall, Hannah is looking like her cousin Ally and Andrew is a little minim Marc.
