New Year's Day

Our friends and dear neighbors are moving, well they are partly moved already.  He received a new job in Texas and after much prayer and deliberation they decided to accept it - even though it means leaving all of their family who live close and some amazing neighbors.  It was so much fun getting to know them, developing a friendship, working in our yards together,  and having them over for meals.  We especially loved that they loved our children and didn't mind that they would talk their ear off and love on their pet dog every time they were outside. At least thats what they said and we are taking their word for it. They are a sweet young couple who will be greatly missed, who we will do our best to keep in contact with.

Before they left they gave us a sweet card and a gift card to a fun center.  We decided to use it on New Year's day and take advantage of the new swimming pool.  The pool is pretty amazing and very little kid friendly. We ended up swimming and playing for 3 hours.  It was sort of surreal to be swimming and look out the window and see snow.  Because we live so close to the pool we decided to just get cleaned up at home - that was a cold ride home...even though we did drip and dry off quite a bit before leaving.

Andrew was pretty terrified at first.  This was his first time at a big pool and I think it was all a little overwhelming. But after gripping me white knuckled and crying for a while he started to have fun.  Rachel, Benjamin and Marc enjoyed the big slides,  everyone love the 'lazy river', at the end Hannah enjoyed the little playground/splash-pad area and Andrew finally enjoyed standing up in the water splashing everyone - un attached to mommy.
