Marc got to once again celebrate his birthday on Thanksgiving.  He joked about saying how awesome it was that everyone was going to celebrate his day by having a large feast and taking the day off - if only that were true.  We on the other hand did start the day off with quite the feast.  I made him his most favorite breakfast (sausage gravy and biscuits with a side of scrambled eggs) and the kids gave him his birthday gift and card they so feverishly worked on the day before.  They picked out some new socks and a tie for him - hey who doesn't like new socks?

Then we lounged around playing nintendo for a while wondering if we should really go down to mom and dads because Andrew had been sick the days previous; like the throwing up kind of sick.  We ultimately decide to go because he had kept down some breakfast (and a bit of dinner the night before) and was acting pretty normal - for not feeling good for 2 days.  So we loaded up the chocolate pie, pond scum, pajamas and kiddos, turned the key in the van only to discover it wouldn't start.  BLAH!!  We pushed the van out of the garage, used the jumper cables to get it started and drove it around a bit trying to decide if it was a battery issue, starter or alternator.  We quickly surmised it wasn't an alternator and figured if we needed to we could get a jump start for the way home.  SO we continued.  We probably should have stayed, you know taken all the signs of not going down but we didn't. We wanted to go down and besides we had the pond scum, you have to have the pond scum or it's not Thanksgiving.

There were no problems on the drive down, we were all safe, no one threw up - aka Andrew - and we were ready for a fun time with family.  The kids disappeared with their cousins, we did some activities, ate a lot of food, laughed a lot, lounged a lot and had fun - a lot.  Then Andrew puked; all over himself and Marc.  No problem, clean it up, put Andrew in pajamas while dad loaned some clothes to Marc and we left shortly there after. Andrew and Hannah fell asleep on the way home, score!  No one threw up.  Until we were about 5 miles from home...

Andrew woke up and violently threw up all over.  The smell was - well I won't describe the smell - just know it was bad.  When we got home we divided and conquered.  We got Andrew, the van and the carseat and so much else cleaned up, gave the other kids a snack and put to bed.  Andrew stayed up for a while longer then finally crashed.  He woke up early this morning hungry, thirsty and puking.  He became listless, his lips became chapped, he had no tears, pretty dry diapers, he was in and out of consciousness, he was dry heaving and couldn't even keep little sips of water down.  So I took him into our pediatrician and came out with a diagnosis of a stomach bug, mild/moderate dehydration, the doctors personal cell phone number and instructions to hopefully get him hydrated over night at home.  So here I am and here I have been for basically the last 4 days.  Holding a tearless crying, puking, not happy little boy.  Here is to hydration: our new goal and hopefully best friend.

Oh so sad! Poor guy. David had a birthday once where we went to the zoo. Caleb puked all over him and he had to wear his clothes all the way home. Yuck.
