Isaac Kenneth Anson

Well this little guys was just too comfy and growing way fast and/or my body was too stressed to  figure out how to do labor on it's own; either way he had a signed and sealed eviction notice. I was unsure about actually going through it - right up to the moment everything started.  I prefer to go into labor naturally and really have never had an issue before.  But I was also beyond exhausted of having contractions for a week that were strong and consistent yet unproductive. I was very sore - everywhere.  I was done being sick/nauseous and un able to eat.  So I went through with it.

My plan was to have the pitocin to get my contractions started but still do everything else naturally.  No epidural.  I've done it before I knew I could do it again. But I quickly learned that pitocin contractions are quite different than normal, natural contractions.  After having the pitocin for 3 hours and only progressing .5 a centimeter I opted for an epidural.  I was doing my breathing but then the contractions started getting more intense and much closer together. I was losing my concentration, and couldn't slow my breathing down enough to relax.  I was also getting quite shaky (which normally occurs at the end, just before pushing with natural labor).  After receiving the epidural I could finally relax deeply and almost sleep for the next hour - something I desperately needed. I could still move my legs and feel the contractions but they felt more like natural contractions - I could totally handle this.  During the next hour they were more intense, so I upped the dose of the epidural a bit, but I was still able to breath my way through them.  Then I felt pressure, a lot of pressure I knew it was almost show time.  When I had to really start breathing hard and panting I knew he was there so we called the nurse and sure enough his little head was there.  They called my doctor and after a few controlled pushes our little boy arrived.

My doctor was estimating him to be low 9's maybe upper 8's.  After receiving him he said "Oh ya, that's a 9 pounder right there."  He was laid on my belly and after the delayed cord cutting we were able to find out exactly how much this guy weighed.

We were all amazed to learn he was a whopping 9 lbs 10 oz and 22 inches long!!!

I shudder to think how much bigger he would have been had we waited a few more days until his due date or until he decided to come.  How in the world do I make such huge boys!?  I don't know either.

As big as he is, he is still our little man whom we love dearly and are grateful that he is with us.

In the meantime one of my sweet sister-in-laws stayed at the house with all of our kids and 4 of hers. She was busy and tired too.  Grandpa came up to relieve her so she could get back home to prepare for her daughters baptism that night.

After our little guy arrived Marc went home to get the kids and grandpa to come up to the hospital to meet our new arrival.  His first name was 'leaked' to everyone but we were able to keep his middle name a secret, which was more important anyway.  We decide to name this sweet soul after Marc's father.  When he learned what we did he said he felt very honored - as he should.

Everyone loved meeting their new little brother.  Hannah is quite the little mother and will be my big helper in the weeks to come - well they all will be - but she is just quite smitten with him.

I was feeling great and ready to come home the next day - my doctor gave me the green light.  We just had to wait 24  hrs to see how Isaac would do.  He is a champ.  He loves to eat and latches perfectly every time, his glucose levels were perfect at every check, and every single other test they placed before him, he passed with flying colors so we were able to check out early.  Now we are at home.  Relaxing and recovering and adjusting.

The kiddos all made beautiful welcome signs, cards or letters for Isaac.  This kiddo is quite loved and always will be.  How blessed he is and how blessed we are.
