I was actually quite surprised and excited. But when she shows interest in something I try not to squelch that excitement at all; so I went with it and whipped her up a poodle skirt from my sewing stash this morning while she was at preschool. When she came home she immediately put the skirt on and didn't take it off until bedtime. She was thrilled to have a cute 'pluto' skirt just like Rachel.
Marc came home, grabbed a bite to eat, changed then headed out the door with the girls. He said Rachel had a wonderfully exciting time, nearly won the hula-hoop contest, was our usual social butterfly, cut a rug - sort of, and couldn't get enough of everything. Hannah on the other hand took nearly half an hour to get acclimated to the chaotic, noisy, overwhelming environment. He said she started crying and shaking within seconds of entering the door. I anticipated this happening. It's how she reacts to all social or new or chaotic situations. That's why I was surprised she wanted to go in the first place. I love her for the desire to go and for trying so hard. I'm proud of her for finally getting to the point where things were ok, not great, but ok enough so she could dance a little and have fun.
