The Deck

I think we will forever have a project or 2 going on, at least it sure feels that way.  We are in the midst of one project and start planning our next.  For example:  we are currently working on building our deck but have started plans for our kitchen remodel.  Now the kitchen we have now is not horrible but it could be SO much better and bigger.  Which to me would be amazing seeing how I'm in there about 90% of the day I think I deserve it.

But anyway so our last big Summer project, yes I realize it is no longer Summer, is our deck.  The weather is holding out so we are trying to make some good headway.  We may need to finish it in the Spring, and we are mostly ok with that.

After having our patio poured it sat for a bit while we dealt with the city, our permit and some persnickity inspectors.  They were not happy with the foundation we had poured for the patio and were going to have us 'fix' the problem to the tune of a few hundred dollars more.  But we knew it was going to work because we have a handful of engineer friends who we ran the entire idea through and we had the concrete guy pour a slab according to their specifications.  So one engineer friend drew up some amazing plans that we can use to prove to those persnickety inspectors that everything is just fine.  And because we have that, now we can build! YAY!

So long story short: we think we know what we are doing and hope that it works out.  If not we have engineering friends that can come to our rescue, right?
