Pirate day, Aargh!!

Yesterday was pirate day for Benjamin's kindergarten class.  They had a great day of learning their usual stuff as well as fun things about pirates.  Unfortunately I forgot that he could dress up in our awesome pirate costume, but that's okay because his teacher gave him an eye patch, telescope and flag.  He still had blast and as soon as he got home he put on his pirate costume and has worn it since.  We are going on day 2 of talking like, eating like, talking about, and acting like a pirate.

Today we took our "ship" (aka: wagon) out with the "Jolly Roger" (aka: flag with skill and crossbones).  We followed a hand drawn treasure map around the neighborhood to find the "X" (aka: our backyard) so he could dig up his buried treasure.

As soon as we got home he grabbed the big metal shovel and went to town digging.  It's a good thing we haven't put in our patio yet so he has a nice large area to dig in.  He worked very hard digging and made quite a large hole.  It ALMOST makes me second guess actually putting in a patio. I could just send him out there to dig holes and wear himself out.  But a patio sounds way more better then bunch of holes, weeds and mud.
