The shell lamp lives on

Many many moons years ago Marc's parents passed on to him - before we were married - a beautiful shell lamp they got from the Philippines.  It is made from capiz shells which when lit (by a bulb) produce this heavenly glow.

 It was carefully packaged and sat in storage for a very long time.

Then we got married and it continued to sit in storage for a very long time.

It's not that we didn't necessarily want to hang it we just didn't have a good pretty safe perfect spot for it.  So in storage it sat.  It survived through 4 moves.

Then today while we were trying to get some things accomplished on our "to-do" list; we decided to hang the shell lamp instead of organizing the office (which probably should have been done instead).

We didn't think it would take that long.  Really, how hard is it to hang a lamp? Honestly not that hard.  And if it were not for the fact that the strands and strands of capiz shells were totally tangled it probably would have been over in a matter of a few minutes. Instead it took longer.  Oh the lamp was hung, but then we spent the majority of the day between untangling the strands and taking breaks to come back refreshed just to get the lamp untangled.

But the results were totally worth it.  The shell lamp lives on.
