Basement

We have been steadily making progress in our basement.  We worked on the electrical, then crossed our fingers as the inspector came to have a look at it.  Surprisingly we passed.  Now we hope that when the time comes to hook everything up we won't have a HUGE problem - you know like an electrical fire or a light that doesn't work etc.  But we are fairly confident that everything has been done correctly.

Then we spent many a nights working together after the kids were in bed putting in the pink and yellow "blankets".  That was a nasty, sweaty, itchy, awful job. One I never wish to repeat again - ever. After passing the insulation inspection we called the company we are hiring to do ALL the sheet-rock work - yes we are hiring out the all of this wonderful job to someone else more qualified to do the job.  I'm so excited to pass on this part of the project to someone else. It will be worth EVERY PENNY we pay them.

Today our basement project went through the biggest transformation by far, at least in my opinion. Today the sheet-rock was hung.  Every last piece.  There will be no more walking through walls for this family.  And I'm so excited! It's amazing how much change can happen in one day. Now we get to endure all of the sheet-rock and mud dust then the real fun can begin - PAINTING!!!!!!!

Good move on hiring out the sheet rock. We had a friend who'd done it as a job formerly hang the little bit that we needed done when we remodeled our house. He did the first layer of mudding and we sanded and did the other layers. We thought we did a pretty good job, but you could always see the seams. It's hard!
