Bubbles, Golf, Flowers and Silliness

Besides doing all of these crafty sewing projects for our new little arrival we have had some fun times - between all of the rain showers that is. I guess I'm not adventurous enough to let my kids go stomp around in the mud and rain yet. Maybe one day, in the far future. Maybe.

One evening I had a girls night with some friends which left Marc home alone with 2 kids who had been stuck in the house all week/day because of the rain. He fared quite well. It stopped raining that evening long enough for us to see some blue skies and a little warmer temperatures (lucky guy!) so he took the kids out side and had some fun. He broke out his golf clubs and let the kids 'hit' some golf balls around in the back yard. They also got out the fishing pole and practiced casting the line in preparation for some fishing adventures this summer.

Benjamin has become such a little talker lately and I LOVE it! His vocabulary is increasing by leaps and bounds daily. We checked out some signing time videos from the library and while Rachel is doing the signs he is saying the words. It's WONDERFUL! He has also become more and more independent, which happens when they are almost 2. He loves to pick out his own shirts and yes he absolutely LOVES bright colored shirts - which is very helpful for mommy to find him when we are in public. :)
We have also been breaking out the bubbles A LOT lately. It is one of the best things to do when everything is wet because they stick around longer. Side walk chalk just gets washed away to quickly, and it's WAY to muddy to dig in the garden; which by the way is starting to suffer because of all of the rain. It looks like we will need to replace our tomato plants, they simply washed away. :(
Benjamin and Rachel both love the bubbles, it's just so much fun to watch them blow them, run after them and stomp on them.
One good thing about all of the rain is the flowers! Our yard is coming to life again with beautiful colors, okay so most of the flowers are white we realized, but none the less it's still beautiful. We have a lot of blossoms on our strawberry plants this year and can't wait to eat them when they are red. Even though we planted our lilac bush in the fall of last year we even got some pretty purple lilacs which smell so divine. And for some odd reason only our white Iris's have bloomed so far, the purple and black iris's should be coming soon - we hope. So there you have it, proof that spring has FINALLY arrived in our neck of the woods! :) Yay! Now if only the rain would stop long enough for us to enjoy it more.
