Last night we had our wards Christmas party and as always it was a little crazy, lots of fun and there was lots of yummy food. I was excited for the party for many reasons but the main reason was Santa was going to make an appearance and I was excited to see my kids' reactions.
Well, during the entertainment (some awesome guitar playing, singing guys who decided to call themselves the "Airport Jammers") Santa came in and handed out some candy canes. When he first walked in Rachel was a little nervous, then it quickly turned to shear TERROR as he got closer to her. The first thing I did was laugh, then take a picture, and then comfort Rachel. (Bad mom, I know. . . )
Even though Rachel was SCARED we decided to try to see Santa so she could tell him that she wanted a "Brachiosarus and Tyrannosaurus Rex" for Christmas. As we got closer the screams and tears only got worse so she never actually sat on his lap. Benjamin didn't like it much either. He was screaming too. After a quick picture, he game them some toys which helped calm Rachel down . . . a little. I think we just scarred our children for life.
Rachel ended up getting a green car and Benjamin got a purple dinosaur. NO it's not a Barney (THANK GOODNESS!!) It's a purple dinosaur that is the mascot for Peter Pipers Pizza. Though I've never heard of the place some of our friends said they LOVED the place.
And of course where ever there is music, you will see our kids dancing. For quite a while they were the only two up there dancing to the awesome music. Eventually they recruited a few others to join them.
Marc had one to many sweets I think.

You may need to change your "Night before Christmas" story otherwise she may just stay up all night just so Santa WON'T come!
If they are this scared of Santa now, what'll happen when they find out who Santa really is. Scared of mom and dad. I can see being scared of dad :)
