Almost there...

Today started out rainy and dreary, making us all sad that we wouldn't be able to work in the yard. In spite of the weather we decided to make a trip to Lowes to look at gate hardware hoping to be able to make the gate later in the week. Well just about the time that Rachel woke up from her nap the sun came out! So we headed outside determined to get as much as done as we could. With Rachel's help and a lot of luck we were able to get the gate made and hung in just over 2 hours. We even had time to cut the grass...which was BADLY needed. What an awsome day it turned out to be. So what do you think of our handy work? The gate is Marc's design and if you look at it you can see our initials M & E. Cool huh?

We love our family!

We have had so much fun the last couple days with our cousins. They came up to play which was so much fun for Rachel. We decided to take them to the Tree House Museum near our house. Here is miss Rachel our #1 fire chief. Zac and Ally decided to join in the 'fire fighter' fun.
Here's the cousin quintet...we just wish we could have had Caleb and Jacob there to play too.
Rachel and Ally had soooooooo much fun together! Thanks for the play date, we must do it again soon.

While the kids were busy playing hard the boys were busy working hard. They were able to get all of the slats up for the fence. Now we just have staining/sealing to do and a gate to build. Thank you SO much Joseph for 'breaking' your back for us. Thanks Amy for all of your hard work in keeping the kids safe and entertained. Love you all lots!!

What have I done?

Ever since I posted the blog/video of Rachel with the skirt on her head she has been begging to see it. In fact any time we come downstairs that's the first thing she asks for..."skirt, watch again!" So what do I do? I let her watch it, over and over and over and...well you get the idea. And as she watches the video she laughs hysterically at herself, till the point where she is snorting and almost crying. She just thinks she is the funniest kid alive and maybe I'm biased but so do I.

"Skirt"

Also in the package were a few outfits...here is Rachel showing off how to "put on" the skirt.

Package from Grandma

Rachel got a package today from my mom that included her favorite cartoon characters... Magenta, and Periwinckle (she already had Blue). It just totally made her day, thanks grandma!

Alfredo hair treatment?

So last night for dinner I decided to make one of Marc's favorite foods (Chicken Alfredo). We hadn't had it for a long time and Rachel had never had it before. I wasn't sure how much she was going to like it but I guess I didn't need to worry...like father, like daughter. During dinner she didn't say anything, except 'more please', she just stuffed her face using her hand. In the end she ended up having two helpings of the chicken Alfredo and half a peach. In the middle of dinner Marc and I looked over and saw that she had been playing with her hair which now had Alfredo sauce all through out it. Hair Alfredo anyone?

Ode to Dad

Ode to my father who didn't drink much water,
yet he lent us a hand and continued as planned.
His advice we heeded, his tools we needed.
Thanks for your labor, you did us a favor.
Of the fence there is more, but we know you are sore.
So have a good rest, and know you'll be blessed.
Thank you Dad!
